Default language and currency: setting the locale of every document
Two settings determine the language of your emails and PDFs and the currency of your line items — picked once, applied to every proposal unless you override per-document.
Most freelancers serve clients in one or two languages and bill in one currency. Default language and currency let you set those once so every new proposal starts pre-configured. When a client speaks a different language or pays in a different currency, change the defaults on that proposal in the wizard — the default never changes, just the one document.
Step by step
Open Settings → Profile.
Default language and Default currency are at the bottom of the Profile card.
Pick a language.
EN, DE, NL, FR, PL, or ES from the dropdown. The change applies to new proposals immediately; existing drafts keep the language they were drafted in.
Pick a currency.
EUR, GBP, USD, PLN. Same rule — applies to new drafts only.
Save.
Open
/proposals/newand confirm the wizard's Step 1 shows your new defaults pre-filled.Override per proposal as needed.
In the wizard Step 1, the language and currency dropdowns can be changed for that one proposal without touching the default.
Why this works this way
The language setting flows everywhere a string with legal weight is rendered. Email subject lines: "Your proposal from {name}" (EN) becomes "Dein Angebot von {name}" (DE), "Votre devis de {name}" (FR), and so on. PDF section headers ("Service description", "Payment terms", "Total due") translate to match. Statutory disclaimers — VAT exemption notes, reverse-charge wording, late-payment fee references — all switch to the matching locale, with text reviewed by an EU VAT specialist (never machine-translated). The client gets the document in the language you sent it in; if your client asked for German and you sent English by accident, withdraw and re-send.
The currency setting is more constrained than language because not every Stripe account can charge every currency. EUR is universal across the EU; GBP and USD are accepted by every Stripe Connect account in EUR-zone countries; PLN is accepted by Polish-registered Stripe accounts and a few others. If you pick a currency Stripe can't process for your account, Clozo lets you generate the invoice but the "Pay with card" button is greyed out — the client can still pay via SEPA if the IBAN is set. Decimal separator follows your locale: €1,234.56 in EN, 1.234,56 € in DE, 1 234,56 € in FR.

Profile fundamentals: the six fields every invoice needs
Six fields turn a blank account into one Clozo can build legal invoices from — name, country, language, currency, tax regime, and address. Three are required to send anything at all.

Multi-language proposals: matching the client's language
